Daniel Montoya Ortiz - known warmly to his family as "Papa" - passed away peacefully on September 16, 2025, in Midland, Texas. He was 56. Born September 14, 1969, in El Mulato, Ojinaga, CHIH. MX. Daniel lived a life centered on family, faith, and service.

Daniel is survived by his father, Felix Ortiz; his loving wife of twenty-six years, Brenda Melgoza Ortiz of Andrews, and their children, Daniel and his wife, Crystal Ortiz, Lucero Ortiz, Jasmine and her husband, Robert Aguilar, Arlene Ortiz, Brandi and her husband, Jerad Aulds, and Denziel Ortiz, all of Andrews. His brothers, Felipe and his wife Angie Ortiz, and Rusbael Ortiz, as well as his sisters, Cruzella Ortiz, Martina and her husband Guillermo Galindo, Deida and her husband Jose Baeza, and Felipa Ortiz Marquez and her husband Nelo. Daniel's joy was multiplied by his adoring grandchildren, Chloe, Daniel III, Catalina, Julian, Avery, and Aaliyah. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family members, and his loving dog, Oreo. Daniel now rejoins his beloved mother, Carolina Montoya Ortiz, and brother Baldemar Ortiz, in eternal rest.

He was a devoted father, husband, and papa who cared for his family deeply - always present, always generous, and always putting their needs first. A longtime member of House of Mercy, Daniel found joy and strength in his Christian faith and could often be found lifting his voice in praise. His generous, servant's heart showed in the way he reached out to help anyone in need and in the quiet ways he supported those around him.

Professionally, Daniel took pride in Mustang Construction, the business he owned and ran since 2005 with dedication and integrity alongside his lifelong friend and business partner, David, and his wife, Jan Moore. He also served his community through the Andrews Fire Department beginning in 2007, where he formed close friendships and became a trusted, committed member of the team.

Daniel loved to bring people together - his barbecues, cooking, and laughter were the highlight of many family gatherings. He had a quick sense of humor and a big laugh that could brighten any room. He loved what he did, loved his family, and was, at his core, a generous, faith-filled man.

We remember Daniel for his warmth, his work ethic, and the many small and large ways he blessed others. He leaves behind cherished memories and a family and community made stronger by his love.

Matthew 25:23 "Well done, my good and faithful servant"
