Daniel W. Pegausch
78, born and raised in Bridgeport; and longtime Canaryville resident, passed away November 19, 2025. Beloved husband of Mary Ellen (Dineen); loving father of Daniel Jr. (Dawn) Pegausch, Dawn (John) Pegausch, Sally (Harry) Pegausch, Jill Pegausch, Robert (Kelly) Pegausch, Marie Pegausch, Joseph (April) Pegausch, and Christine Slepicka. Dear brother of Alex "Skip" Pegausch, Edward (Linda) Pegausch, and Marie (Denny) Wolney. Loved by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Sally Pegausch (Wagner).
Daniel was a proud retired Chicago Streets and Sanitation employee and avid President Trump supporter. He enjoyed playing games and watching tv, especially the Young and Restless whom he enjoyed watching with his wife and talking about for hours on end. His love for listening to music, more recently Taylor Swift, turned him into a bit of a Kansas City Chiefs fan. But more importantly, he was a true Chicago Bears fan. Most of all, Dan cherished time spent with his family. He absolutely loved being a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He adored his wife, the love of his life.
He treasured time spent in Lakeland, cruising around on his golf-cart to watch the sunset. Dan always made sure to stop at "The Pig" when in Wisconsin, being that they only have the Piggly Wiggley's out of state. A family man, Dan would love to reenact Family Feud with his kids. Always going all out and taking the game very seriously, he even dressed up in a suit once to really get the whole experience! Dan was known to many for his outgoing and joyful personality. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him but never forgotten.
Visitation on Monday, November 24, 2025 from 3-8 p.m. at McInerney Central Chapel, 4635 S. Wallace St., Chicago, IL 60609. Funeral Tuesday, November 25, 2025 with Chapel Prayers at 9:15 a.m. to St. Gabriel Church, 600 West 45th Street. Mass of the Resurrection 10:00 a.m. Cremation following in accordance with his wishes.
