Dennis John "Fuzzy" Lanning Sr.

Dennis "Fuzzy" John Lanning Sr., 75, longtime Canaryville resident, passed away December 28, 2025. Beloved husband of Mary "Katie" Lanning. Cherished father of Genevieve (John) Lanning-Malabarba and Dennis J. Jr. (Kathleen) Lanning. Dear brother of the late Robert Jr. Lanning. Caring brother-in-law of the late Carol (late Dick) Condon, the late Bunny (Robert) Lustro, the late Raymond (late Sandra) McNamara, the late Patricia (late John) Stock, the late James (Jean) McNamara, William (Mary) McNamara, and Michael "Gus" (Darlene) McNamara. Adoring grandfather of Joseph Malabarba, Katie Malabarba, Dennis Lanning III, and Henry Lanning. Fond companion of his special four-legged friends, Gabby and Ralph. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Helen Lanning. He was also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Dennis absolutely adored his grandkids and cherished time spent with family. Known to many as "Fuzzy", he was a dear and loyal friend to many, always could be counted on.
Golfing and watching sports were two of his favorite pastimes. Always making sure to watch his Chicago Bears and Notre Dame play when they were on! Dennis also enjoyed watching movies, especially old ones. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him but never forgotten.
Visitation on Sunday, January 4, 2026 from 3-8 p.m. at McInerney Central Chapel, 4635 S. Wallace St., Chicago, IL 60609. Funeral Monday, January 5, 2026 with Chapel Prayers at 9:15 a.m. to St. Gabriel Church, 600 West 45th Street for a 10:00 a.m. Mass. Burial following at St. Casimir Cemetery, 4401 West 111th St, Chicago, IL 60655.
