Daniel R. Perrett, 81, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025, at home.
Born August 31, 1944, in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary (Radice) Perrett.
He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Madaline Kreslick, Michelle Perrett, Michael Perrett, and Barbara Ann Perrett; his father-in-law, George Murphy; his mother-in-law, Anne Murphy; a brother-in-law, Brian Murphy; and a sister-in-law, Tara Murphy.
Daniel served honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1961-1964. He was aboard the U.S.S. Salisbury Sound, a Currituck seaplane tender, where he made life long friends.
For over 33 years, he was an electrical contractor in College Park, MD before moving to Springfield, West Virginia. In 2005, Dan bought the Fort Ashby Farm & Garden store and operated the store for 5 years. "Murphy", his loving wife, would tell you that Dan was full time raconteur and part time worker.
In his spare time, Dan enjoyed bow hunting and fishing. An avid golfer, he played with the Western Maryland Grasshoppers. Later, he enjoyed the Old Timers League at Fore Sisters Golf Club.
Survivors include his wife, Marianne "Murphy" Perrett, with whom he shared 43 years; his daughters, Denise Downs (Jeff) and Nikki Deitrich (Eric); granddaughters, Jessica Roberts (Jacob) and Scarlet Deitrich; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Cathy O'Connell (Jim), Margaret Myers, Sheila Kehoe (Tim), Sean Murphy, and Karen Murphy. Dan was blessed with adoring nieces and nephews, including Debbie Borichevsky (Greg) and Stacey Walker (Frank). Stella, his treasured black lab, was one of many pups over the years lucky to be his faithful companion
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Inc., Fort Ashby, on Thursday from 1-4 PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Annunciation of Our Lord Catholic Church, Fort Ashby, on Friday at 11 AM, with Rev. Thomas A. Sebastian, C.S.T., celebrant.
Interment will be in Fort Ashby Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hampshire County Animal Shelter, 155 Kerr Drive, Augusta, WV 26757.
