Daniel Harold Pickering, 50, of Simms, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on October 11, 2025. Daniel was born on September 24, 1975, in Texarkana, Texas, to Ann Pickering and Harold "Big Red" Pickering.
Daniel is survived by his siblings, Ivan Pickering (Dana), Mike Pickering, Robin Hammonds (James), Todd Pickering (Robin), Ree Pickering, and Glenda Pickering, along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews as well as many great friends who loved him dearly and will miss his humor, his hard work, and that unmistakable grin.
He's now reunited with his parents, Ann and Harold "Big Red" Pickering, and his cousin, Christopher Meadows - likely catching up over stories that get taller with each telling.
Daniel was the proud owner and operator of DHP Construction and Carpentry, where he showcased his exceptional craftsmanship and strong work ethic. From a young age, Daniel learned the value of hard work - his daddy had him working cows at J & J Livestock, where he also mastered the bull whip, a skill a few friends can still tell stories about.
A proud graduate of Simms High School, Daniel made his mark as a skilled carpenter whose work was as solid and reliable as his handshake. If it could be built, Daniel could build it. And if it couldn't - well, he'd find a way anyway.
When he wasn't building something, Daniel was talking - and talking some more - specifically about his beloved Texas Longhorns. Win or lose (but preferably win), he was loyal through and through, decked out in burnt orange and ready to debate plays with anyone brave enough to disagree.
Daniel had faith in the Lord and shared that when his time came, the first thing he would do in Heaven would be to find his momma and daddy. On October 11, 2025, that beautiful reunion took place in the presence of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Daniel's life was full of laughter, love, and a little bit of mischief (if you know you know) - the perfect combination. He leaves behind more than memories; he leaves behind the reminder to work hard, love your family, and never underestimate the value of a good conversation.
Hook 'em, Daniel.

Daniel your crazy tail will be missed. You could always make everyone around you laugh, & eat way too much when you had meat in the smoker (some of the best ribs I've ever had). Rest peacefully now that you're home.
