Daniel Peter Poncin

Daniel Peter Poncin, 75, of Schaumburg, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2024. Beloved husband of Penelope "Penny" Thoma-Poncin, nee Philbin. Devoted father of Kerrie Anne Grace (Korzatkowski), Sean Poncin, and Charlie (Jamie Stoneburner) Poncin. Loving grandfather of Gabe, Violet, Chloe, Max, Eliot, Sadie, and eagerly anticipated grandchild #7. Cherished son of the late Charles and Dorothy Poncin. Caring brother of Bruce (Lynette) Poncin, Edward "Joe" (Tammy) Poncin, and the late Theresa Poncin. Dear uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Dan was a man of diverse talents and unwavering compassion. He never had idle hands, finding joy in crocheting, solving complex puzzles, and reading avidly. He was also known for his love of building things and tending to the garden. Dan's nurturing spirit extended beyond his family and friends; he had a deep love for animals and supported various charitable causes, including the Anti-Cruelty Society.
In addition to his charitable work, Dan volunteered at Life Span and Family Shelter Services, demonstrating his commitment to helping others in need. He lived a life of service to family, friends, neighbors, community, and country.
A memorial visitation will be held on April 21 from 2pm until 6pm at Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, 330 West Golf Road, Schaumburg. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the charity of your choice in his name.
