Daniel Joseph Prieto was called home by our Lord on December 1, 2025.
Daniel was born in Aurora, IL on January 31, 1985, to Miriam and Joseph Prieto. He was baptized and confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Aurora Illinois. His faith was deepened at Saint Pauls Lutheran School. He then attended Oswego High School. Following high school, Daniel studied at Knox College, receiving a bachelor's degree in education. He also attended Concordia University in River Forest Illinois and earned a master's degree in curriculum and instruction. He used these degrees to spend many years teaching middle and high school students in Cissna Park, Illinois.
Daniel had many interests in life in addition to teaching. He was a skilled woodworker who designed and created many handmade pieces of furniture. He was an avid, environmental warrior, spending as much time as he could exploring parks and other outdoor areas. His greatest love was riding his jet ski on as many lakes as possible in any weather at the highest possible speeds.
Daniel is survived by his mother Miriam, his grandfather Joseph Prieto, his aunts and uncles Mark (Beth), Melanie, Debra, Theresa, Margaret, Philip (Lisa), John, Barbara and Martin (Ethiopia). He is survived by numerous cousins.
Daniel was preceded in death by his father, Joseph, his grandparents Eileen and Erwin Heimsoth his grandmother, Juanita Prieto and uncle, Frank Davenport.
A service of remembrance will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 550 Fourth Ave., Aurora, IL on Friday, December 12th. The church will open at 10:00 AM with the service beginning at 10:30.
