Daniel Jerome "Dan" Rathbone

Clyde, Daniel Jerome Rathbone, age 65, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Jerry and Willa Mae (Riddle) Rathbone. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Debbie Rathbone.
Dan proudly served his country in the United States Army. After his service, Dan was employed at Ecusta Paper Corporation in Pisgah Forest. He enjoyed fishing and camping and being in the woods. He was passionate about nature and studied horticulture at Blue Ridge Community College. He loved his family and was very proud of his three daughters. He was a proud patriot and loved his country.
Dan is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Lynn Waldrop Rathbone; three dear daughters, Heather Rathbone of Seoul, South Korea, Katie Burke, and her husband, Nick, of Denver, NC, and Laura Rathbone, and her fiancé, Bryce McKey, of Queensland, Australia; and two adorable granddaughters, Kennedy and Sutton Burke.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 22, 2022 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Josh Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Crabtree Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

The care of Mr. Rathbone has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
