Daniel Richardson Obituary
Daniel Scott Richardson, 41, of Hazleton, IN passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2025. He was born August 28, 1983 in Evansville, IN to Gary Wiley Richardson and Jane Ann (Wright) Richardson. Dan graduated from Princeton Community High School in 2002. He dedicated much of his career to plant maintenance and management in the mining industry. Dan worked at Five Star Mine in Petersburg, Liberty Mine in Boonville, and Friendsville Mine in Illinois. He eventually was promoted to plant manager at Friendsville Mine. Dan was respected by his colleagues due to his knowledge, leadership, and dedication to his work. He grew up with a love for the outdoors and music. Dan was a gifted self-taught musician, talented on both the drums and guitar. His love for music was more than a hobby, it was a legacy. Dan's musical talents were passed down from his grandpa John Richardson and he proudly passed this ability down to his son Spencer, who continues to play and create music today. One of Dan's greatest joys in life was being a father to his son, Spencer. He cherished every moment spent with Spencer. He taught Spencer how to hunt, fish, work on dirt bikes, ride dirt bikes, and play music. Dan will be remembered for his kind soul. He would help anyone that needed it, including neighbors, friends, and strangers. Dan was deeply loved by many and will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John Richardson, Mary Richardson, and Jerry (Virginia) Wright; uncle, Rick Jones; and cousin, Alex Jones.
Dan is survived by his parents, Gary and Jane Richardson; son, Spencer Richardson; sister, Stacy (Kenneth Jr.) Preston; significant other and life partner, Carol Overton; her children, Brandon (Kelly) Overton and Kaylie Schmitt; and her grandchildren, Corbin Goodwin and Brody Schmitt; aunt and uncles, Jane Ann Jones, Jonnie (Sam) Watkins, Larry (Rhonda) Richardson, Michael Richardson, David (Sherry) Wright, Beth (Eric) Knapp, and John (Mendy) Wright; nieces and nephews, Addison, Savannah, and Noah Preston; and several cousins.
A funeral service will be held 12:00 PM Friday, May 16, 2025 at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, IN with Pastor Kevin Wilson officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until service time on Friday. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Hazleton, IN.
Memorial donations may be made to Colvin Funeral Home for his son Spencer. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
