Daniel Michael Rowden, known to friends and family as No-plans Dan or Danno, embarked on his final road trip on March 10, 2025. Born in the bustling city of Chicago, IL on May 28, 1956, Dan's story began as a tale of adventure that continued throughout his 68 years of life until he peacefully passed away in Byron Center, MI due to natural causes. Dan was preceded in death by his parents; Carl and Maryalice Rowden.
Dan was a man of many hats- both literally and figuratively. He served as a gunsman in the United States Marine Corps, showcasing his bravery and dedication to his country. In civilian life, he navigated the roads as a truck driver, mastered the art of maneuvering a hi-low, as a tech and specialist, and even conquered the digital frontier as an IT tech. However, his most cherished role was as the patriarch of a loving family that will miss him dearly. Surviving are his daughters; Julie and Stacey, his son-in-law; Jimmy, his siblings; Laverne, Leslie, Susan, Linda, Carl, and Andrew, in-laws; Jim, Robert, George, Rachel, and Perscilla, and a squadron of grandchildren; Emeleigh, Savannah, Briana, Malaysia, Maverick, Mikele, Andrew, Eddie, and Brian. He is also survived by his caregiver and good friend Wendy and his best friend Scott. They were all the true joys of his life.
Dan's interests were as eclectic as his career. He could often be found on the open road, taking road trips that would make Jack Kerouac jealous. He was a regular at Chili's, not just for the sizzling fajitas but for the laughter-filled table talks with his comrades. A family man to the core, Dan's happiest moments were those spent with his grandchildren and daughters, whether teaching them the fine art of baiting a hook, camping, or telling stories.
Adventurous, funny, and creative - these words only scratch the surface of Dan's vibrant spirit. He had the rare gift of turning everyday moments into episodes of joy and laughter. As a comedian at heart, Dan left a legacy of humor and warmth that will continue to resonate with all who knew him.
In the spirit of Dan's humorous outlook on life, let's remember him with a quote from the legendary Robin Williams; "You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it". Dan certainly never lost his spark, in fact, he used it to light up the lives of those around him.
While we bid farewell to a man who was larger than life, we do so with a smile, knowing that somewhere out there, Dan is probably taking the wheel on a celestial road trip, cracking jokes with the angels, and keeping the afterlife lively. Safe travels Dan, you will be deeply missed, but the laughter and love you've left behind will forever be our guide.

Rest easy, Dan! It was an honor to get to meet you and know you! You & Melissa were lucky to have each other the last 7 or 8 years and especially during these last couple of years. I know she was honored to be at your side until the end. My thoughts and prayers go out to Missy and his family during this difficult time. May the love and memories carry you through.
