Daniel Lee Ryan

Daniel Lee Ryan, 57, of Indiana, passed away as a result of an accident on Saturday, April 26. Dan was the beloved son of Linda Ruth (Spicher) and James William Ryan, Jr. who was born Dec 25, 1967 in Indiana. Following his graduation from Homer Center High School in 1986, he enlisted in the Army where he served as a medic.
After serving his country, Dan moved to Florida and returned to Indiana many years later. His kind and caring personality led him to become a Certified Peer Specialist through the Mental Health Association of Southwestern Pennsylvania, where he worked for PeerStar LLC. Dan was dedicated to his clients, who to him, were more like family.
In his free time, he enjoyed reading, gardening, camping & canoeing, especially family trips to Clear Creek State Park, fishing, cooking for his family, and spending time with his dog, Molly.
Besides his parents, Linda and Jim, Dan is survived at home by fiancée, Crista Keel with whom he had reconnected with after originally meeting while serving in the military. He is also remembered by his daughter, Danielle Ryan of Florida, and grandchildren Ashlynn, Ben, and Oliver, also of Florida. His surviving brothers are: David (Becky) Ryan and Douglas (Bethany) Ryan, both of Indiana, along with his nieces Emilee Peeler and Morgan Ryan of South Carolina, and nephew Alex Ryan of Indiana, great niece Makena Peeler of South Carolina, and his beloved dog, Molly.
Dan was preceded in death by brother James William Ryan, III, maternal grandparents Mary Imogene (Burkett) and William Henry Spicher, and paternal grandparents Helen Marie (Renz) and James William Ryan.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 30, 2025 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, the time of his memorial service, at the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home & Crematory, 965 Phila. St., Indiana. Pastor Jack Lucas will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a local animal rescue or local mental health support organization.
