Elizabeth Tate Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home, Inc, of Indiana on Jan. 22, 2026.
Elizabeth "Lillian" Tate, 96, of Clymer passed away at IRMC on January 21, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Lillian was born on December 2, 1929, in Hastings, PA. The daughter of the late Jacob Lodico and Rose (Marcuzzo) Lodico, Lillian graduated from Barnesboro High School in 1947. She married George N. Tate on November 11, 1953.

She worked as a bookkeeper at her father's business, the former Lodico Motors in Garmentown. She also worked as a bookkeeper at Tate's Supermarket for many years before she retired. Lillian was a member of Church of the Resurrection in Clymer and sang in the choir.

A sharp dresser with a ready smile, she loved cooking for her family. Her homemade spaghetti sauce and delicious meatballs were legendary. Lillian loved caring for her flowers and shrubs and especially enjoyed observing the hummingbirds who visited her garden. She loved playing games on her tablet and never met a computer she didn't like.

Lillian possessed the qualities of faith, humor, and commitment to family. Her pragmatism blessed the lives of family and friends. She cared for infirm family members for many years.

She is survived by her loved ones: Tina Tate of Sugar Land, Texas; Rose and Tom Kerr of Indiana, PA; and George Tate, Mark Tate, and Tom Thornton of Clymer. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren: John Kerr of Seattle, WA; Elizabeth and Sean Pears of Maryland; Gabrielle and Margaret Leiby-Tate of Chicago, Illinois; Roman and Sarah Tate of Columbus, OH; Jacob Tate of Clymer; and great-grandchildren Lillian Rose Pears and Bobbi Lane Pears of Maryland; and Maxine Opal Leiby-Tate of Chicago, IL.

Lillian was preceded in death by her precious daughter, Stacie Lynn Tate, who passed in 2018 and husband George in 1998.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home & Crematory in Indiana. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 29th at the funeral home. A prayer vigil will begin at 4:00 p.m. during the visitation.

A Mass of Christian Burial is planned for 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 30th at the Church of the Resurrection in Clymer. The celebrant will be Father Craig Alexander. Interment will follow at the Church of the Resurrection cemetery in Clymer.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation, in Lillian's name, be made to the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) charity.
