Daniel Patrick Ryan
Age 79 | Wheaton, Illinois
Daniel Patrick Ryan, 79, of Wheaton, Illinois, passed away peacefully on October 3rd, 2025, in Winfield, Illinois surrounded by family. Born and raised in Chicago, Dan lived a life defined by intelligence, humor, devotion, and an unwavering love for his family.
Dan was married to the love of his life, Catherine M. Ryan, for 53 wonderful years. Together they built a beautiful life filled with laughter, purpose, and family. He was a proud and loving father to Daniel (Kelly), Thomas, Patrick, and Mary Catherine (Christopher), and a devoted grandfather to Sophia, Charlotte, Lydia, Logan, and Daniel, who were the joy of his retirement years.
A gifted mathematician and lifelong problem solver, Dan earned both his undergraduate and master's degrees in mathematics from Eastern Illinois University, where he also minored in physics. He began his professional career at CNA and later joined BCS Financial in 1980, where his leadership and insight guided the company until his retirement as CEO and President in 2008.
Dan had a passion for baseball and a lifelong loyalty to the Chicago White Sox. His favorite player, Luis Aparicio, inspired how he played shortstop, graceful, smart, and always with a love for the game. He also found great joy on the golf course as a member of Glen Oak Country Club, where he spent many happy hours with friends and family. Beyond sports, Dan was known for his creativity and problem-solving talent, skills he used not only in his career but in designing the three homes he shared with his family and in helping others bring their own visions to life.
Above all, Dan will be remembered for his kindness, integrity, and the deep love he showed to everyone around him. His sharp mind, gentle humor, and selfless heart made him someone people naturally turned to for guidance and warmth.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 8th, from 3:00–8:00 p.m. at Williams-Kamp Funeral Home in Wheaton, Illinois.
A Funeral Mass will take place at 10:00 a.m. CDT on Thursday, October 9th, at St. Michael's Church in Wheaton, Illinois, with an hour of visitation prior to the service at the church.
Dan's life was a testament to love, loyalty, and quiet strength-qualities that will live on in the family and friends who were blessed to know him.
