Craig Tobin Shaw, 72, of Wheaton, IL, passed away on Monday September 15, 2025. He was born on September 22, 1952, in Detroit, MI, to Lloyd Tobin Shaw and Jeanne Katherine (née Desilets).

Craig spent his early years in Owosso, MI before moving with his family to Glen Ellyn, IL where the family enjoyed weekends on Lake Ellyn and winter ski trips in the Midwest. He attended Glenbard West High School where played football and wrestled before earning an Associate of Arts degree from College of DuPage.

In his early adulthood, Craig explored many trades, working in factories and building maintenance, and ultimately decided to return to school to study heating, ventilation and air conditioning. After obtaining his license, Craig opened his own HVAC repair and installation company named Spring Air Heating and Air Conditioning and sister company Phase Rite Electric.

In his later career, Craig taught his trades to the next generation at Environmental Technical Institute. He prided himself on ensuring his students had experience beyond the textbook, operating as a constant resource and often joining them on job sites for real-world training.

While Craig lived his life in the service of others, he dedicated himself wholeheartedly to his wife and children. He alone remodeled the family home. He coached Briarcliffe Youth baseball for his boys (often two teams at a time), he taught them to work with their hands, and he constantly encouraged them to challenge their minds.

Craig leaves behind his wife, Janet Louise (née Eriksen), and their sons Michael (Celeste), Brian (Nicole), William (Eileen) and Phillip; his grandsons, Elliott and Noah; and his sisters, Sally Carpenter (Bob) and Jill Robach (Kevin).

Craig was preceded in passing by his parents, Lloyd and Jeanne Shaw, and sister, Susan Gravelyn.

Arrangements entrusted to Hultgren Funeral Home, Wheaton, IL.
