Our beloved brother's, Daniel Charles Schenk, fourteen years battle with cancer has ended. Dan passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the Deaconess Hospital Gateway Campus.

Dan was born on July 31, 1954, in Evansville, to the late Linus John and Helen Catherine (Folz) Schenk. Dan loved the outdoors, cutting his grass, driving his BMW, cooking and trying new recipes. He especially loved his family.

His grade school years were spent at Resurrection Grade School. Dan was a 1972 graduate of Mater Dei High School, where he enjoyed being on the wrestling team. After high school, Dan graduated from Rolla Missouri University of Science and Technology with a degree in Civil Engineering. Following his college graduation, Dan wanted to spend some time on an adventure. Several years later, he came home to Indiana and enjoyed time with his family. He was currently working at SRG Automotive. He was a sweet and special brother to his sisters.

Surviving Dan are sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna and Tim Mitchell, Sharon and Steve Muensterman, Kathy and Dan Lee Schenk and Ron Messersmith; nephews and niece, Bryce and Nikki Mitchell, Kurt Messersmith, Kelly and Jeremy Salee, Kyle and Kara Messersmith, Chad Schenk, and Ryan and Kerri Schenk; great nephews and great nieces, Braden Mitchell, Gavin Mitchell, Konnor Mitchell, Evan Messersmith, Cody Messersmith, Colton Salee, Carter Salee, Nora Messersmith, Miles Messersmith, Aspen Schenk, and Amelia Schenk.

In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Messersmith; brother, Randy Ray Schenk and niece, Kirsten Mitchell.

Funeral services for Dan will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Raymond Brenner officiating. Entombment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 PM until service time on Friday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street.

Dan's family extends a special thank you to Dr. Yuan for her excellent care treating Dan and his cancer and the staff of Deaconess Gateway Emergency Room and ICU for all of their compassion and caring. Dan and his family could not have asked for better care than they received.

Dan's sisters would like to express how important family is. Cherish them because you never know how long you will have them on this earth.
