Daniel Sheldon Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 12, 2025.
Daniel "Dan" G. Sheldon was born July 30, 1953 in Kittanning, Pennsylvania. The family subsequently moved to Rathdrum, Idaho where he spent his childhood before relocating to Spokane.

Dan had a 46 year career at Kaiser Aluminum, where he was known for his exemplary work ethic which carried over into everything he did. He retired in 2020.

He was a competitive motorcycle rider into his thirties, winning numerous trophies for motocross racing. He also greatly enjoyed water skiing, snowmobiling, boating, driving off-road in his Razor, and recently driving his Dodge Challenger "Skatie". In short, Dan was "fast and furious" tempered by his soft-spoken and gentle nature. After retirement, he took up wood working and loved building sophisticated and intricate bird houses which he gifted to family and friends. He was an avid Gonzaga Bulldogs and Seahawks fan, and he found his greatest contentment at the lakes or in the mountains

He was universally and deeply loved and will be forever missed by his and Helen's extended families and many friends. In particular, he was profoundly grateful for his close and longtime friends Steve Seifert, Mike Schroeder, and Tim Rowley.

Dan entered into eternal rest August 9th, 2025 after a courageous, six year battle with multiple myeloma through which he displayed unfaltering dignity and grace.

Dan is proceeded in death by his father Darrel and sister-in-law Ann Hedges. He is survived by his wife and love of his life Helen Hedges, mother Valjean, brother Doug, and sisters Leanna (Charlie), and Leslie (Bruce), nephews Josh and Luke Sheldon, sister-in-law Mary Kerr (Rocky), brothers-in-law, Joe Hedges, Jim Hedges, Tom Hedges (Sumitra), nieces-in-law Katie Kerr (Matt and Adelynn), Anna Kerr, nephews-in-law John Kerr (Katie, Liam, Rocky), Jim Kerr, and his faithful four legged friend Tucker.

Helen and Dan are deeply indebted to Cancer Care Northwest for their unwavering dedication to his care, and their limitless kindness, and compassion.

Dan was comforted by a deep and abiding faith, confident his Heavenly Father would be welcoming him into eternity.
