Daniel Scott Smith

Daniel Scott Smith, born on November 2, 1987, in Randolph County, NC, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2024, in his hometown at the age of 36. Daniel worked diligently as a handyman and in construction, where he was known for his skill and dedication. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, most notably through his love for playing basketball and baseball, camping, hunting, and fishing. Those who knew him well will remember his enthusiasm for watching football on TV with his mother and stepfather. Daniel cherished every moment spent with his family and friends, particularly during cookouts and gatherings. His warmth and zest for life left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Daniel is preceded in death by his grandparents, James Robert Pearson, Alice Melinda Watson Pearson, Jacky Lee Smith, and Marie Smith Cox. He is survived by his beloved son, Dawton Lane Smith; his girlfriend, Bridget Tucker; his father, Jackie Lee Smith, Sr.; his mother, Joyce Roberta Pearson Hicks, and stepfather, Raymond Lee Hicks. He leaves behind his brothers, Jacky Lee Smith II, and Christopher David Smith and wife Amanda Jester Smith; sisters, Kimberly Dawn Smith Capps and husband Marshall Capps, and Tammy Lynn Smith Gibson; stepsister, Teresa Hicks; and stepbrothers, Raymond Lee Hicks II and Robert Lee Hicks. Daniel's legacy of love, laughter, and dedication to his family and friends will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
