Rhinebeck – Daniel P. Stambaugh, 74, passed away on December 20, 2024 at the Eleanor Nursing Care Center after a long battle with Alzheimer's.
Born on June 7, 1950 in Bennington, VT, he was the son of the late Robert and Roberta (Walker) Stambaugh.
A brilliant mind, Daniel graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University, a school that he cherished. He joined IBM in 1982, working with semiconductors, in East Fishkill, as well other related off shoots and joint ventures of IBM.
Daniel is survived by his longtime life partner, Tiffany Pratt; a daughter Alexis Stambaugh and her children Aurora and Lucas; a son Nathaniel Stambaugh and his children William, Margo, and Felicity; Tiffany's son David ; his sister Margery, brothers Fred and Joel and many wonderful nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Dan loved the town and people of Clinton, and restoring his circa 1850's home. He would spend his free time recreating period molding, clearing acres of land for the horse, putting in fencing and even rebuilding stone walls. He touched every surface with enthusiasm for true restoration. Dan was always willing to help others and was a volunteer and coach with Rhinebeck's youth soccer program, served on the Rhinebeck School Board, and helped as a teacher of Sunday School at Church of the Messiah. Spending time with his kids while they were growing up was one of the most important things in his life.
Dan loved his family first and foremost and told everyone he lived to make Tiffany happy. He was a good neighbor with a great sense of humor, and as solid as a rock which makes his loss feel like an earthquake.
There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice of Hudson Valley or the Clinton Community Library would be appreciated.
Services will be at the convenience of the family.
