Daniel Edward Szakal

Daniel E. Szakal 58, of Kent Ohio, passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, September 30, 2023. Daniel was born May 23, 1965 in Akron, Ohio to Robert and Gloria Szakal.
Dan was the toughest teddy bear you have ever met. A Navy Veteran and owner/operator of Mobile Glass Services, Daniel was passionate about his family, friends, Ohio State, and giving back to his community. His passion for giving back started when the Tallmadge Jaycees helped his brother Mark build and race a Soap Box Derby car in 1980. Over the years, Dan served in various Jaycee Clubs and roles eventually serving as Ohio JCI Senator 66180. His most recent role was being the 2023 Chairman of the Ohio JCI Senate Pig Roast and Golf Outing. Dan's endless collection of Ohio State merchandise was often donated to the latest fundraising effort in which he or his family was involved.
Every Christmas, Dan would play Santa to his many nieces, nephews, friends, and community partners. The joy he brought and received from this annual event is immeasurable.
Dan previously served on the Children's Advocacy Center of Portage County Board and the Bowl Against Abuse fundraiser. He also loved coaching little league baseball. Additionally, Dan served as an Honor Guard and helped found the Suffield League.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Robert E and Gloria J Szakal as well as his brother Mark Allen. He is survived by his loving partner Pamela Bozica, daughters Christy Flinn and Rachael Bauer; brothers Robert, John (Angela) and Tim along with a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces/nephews.

Funeral services will be Friday, October 6, 2023 at 1:00PM at Bissler and Sons Funeral Home, 628 W. Main St. Kent, OH 44240. Burial will follow at Standing Rock Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday, October 5, 2023 from 4:00-7:00PM at the funeral home.
