Daniel C. True, 61, of the Plantsville section of Southington, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, February 14, 2025. Born September 26, 1963 in Southington, he was the son of the late John F. True, Sr. and the late Jane (Iorio) True.

A lifelong resident of Plantsville, Dan will be most remembered for his passion for the goats he cared for on his Prospect St. property. Known as Longmeadow Farm, the parcel was a sort of refuge for families and even cancer patients as people were allowed to visit and feed the animals. However, in 2010, Dan was in a battle with the town to keep his goats due to issues with town zoning violations and was served with an order to cease and desist. But, with the overwhelming support of town residents and community leaders, Dan was allowed to keep his beloved pets.

Dan lived a quiet, mainly private life and was dedicated to his animals and caring for the land on which he was raised. He lit up when recalling memories with longtime family friends and had a great appreciation for a home cooked meal.

In addition to his parents, Dan was predeceased by his brothers, John True Jr. formerly of Meriden, James True formerly of Palm Beach, FL and Robert True.  He is survived by two daughters, Jessica and Katherine and two granddaughters, Evelyn Grace and Faith Marie.

Calling hours will be held from 3-5 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Burial will be held privately in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Southington. For online condolences and directions, please visit www.plantsvillefuneralhome.com.
