Daniel A. Ueberall

Daniel A. Ueberall, of High Bridge, NJ, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 24, 2024. He was 46 years old.
Dan was born on November 23, 1977, to Edward and Lynda Poush Ueberall in Binghamton, NY. He grew up in Binghamton, where he met his wife and partner of twenty years, Michelle Arnold Ueberall. They moved to New York in 2003 where after three years in Manhattan, they chose to settle in the San Francisco Bay Area of California for ten years, before moving to High Bridge, New Jersey in 2016.
Dan earned an Associate of Arts degree in history, from Broome Community College in Binghamton, NY. He was currently employed at Thermo Fisher Scientific, where he had worked for twelve and a half years and was recently promoted to Business Development Manager, a role he was looking forward to.
Dan took an active role as a father, hiking, biking, camping, swimming, and lately becoming involved in assisting with the Voorhees High School Marching Band. He was an avid and passionate cyclist, being a committed member of Party-Size Cycling, and spending much of his free time on the Columbia Trail. He loved baseball, and enjoyed any sport that was outside the mainstream of the major leagues, from minor league baseball to women's soccer, and many others in-between.
Dan was a voracious reader, consuming tome upon tome of dense Sci-Fi/ Fantasy novels at a supernatural rate, claiming the trick was to read two lines at a time, whilst somehow also understanding them. He indulged in Jerry Springer reruns as a guilty pleasure to decompress from stress.
Dan was colorblind, an endless source for good humored teasing by friends and family. He took this all in stride, insisting that the problem was always all of us, and that the color purple does not actually exist.
In high school, Dan was dubbed the Duke of Surl, or Surly Don. He claimed to only have affection for cats, and all other animals and children could take a hike. But this title proved ironic, as Dan was a recognizable member of the community throughout his life. Volunteering to help with school events, and undeniably a favorite of every child and dog he ever met.
A reliable, stalwart friend, he has literally given people the shirt from off his back. No matter how inconvenient, out of the way, or absurd, he would move mountains to help a friend, picking people up at the airport, moving furniture, test driving cars, throwing parties. If you needed a hand, he showed up. He loved an adventure, and many of his friends and family have tales of cross country adventures, camping trips and canoes, bikes and backpacks.
Dan kept up close relationships with friends throughout his life. He was at the core of a tight-knit, deeply connected group of friends who have known him in some cases since toddlerhood.
Breakfasts and brunches were a favorite pastime, almost rituals, and he loved to sneak off and pick up the check before anyone else could offer.
He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Dan is survived by his loving wife, Michelle, and his son, Phinnaeus Ueberall. He is survived also by his parents, Ed and Lynda, of Pooler GA, his older brother Steven Ueberall of Pooler, GA, older sister Amanda Dean and her Husband Bill Dean of Oviedo FL, and nieces and nephews: Alexis Letendre, Damion Letendre, Arden Dean, and Fletcher Dean.
Calling hours will take place on Saturday, September 14th, 2024 from 2-4 PM, followed by a memorial service at 4pm, at Naughright-Scarponi Funeral Home, 66 Main St, High Bridge NJ. Interment will be private.
