DANIEL K. WEST

Daniel K. West, age 68, of Belton, Missouri passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on August 30, 2025.

Daniel K. West was born on June 18, 1957, the youngest of three children to Robert "Bob" West and Betty M. West (Estrada). He was known as "Dan" to his friends, but to his family, he was always "Danny". He grew up in the Terrace Lake area, where he and his siblings shared countless adventures with neighborhood friends-riding bikes, fishing and eating at Paul's Drive-In.

After completing his education, Danny built a respected career in the HVAC industry, working as both an educator and a technical service representative. Over more than three decades, he earned many accolades for his expertise and contributions. He taught Mechanical and HVAC courses, hosted numerous training programs and assisted field technicians until his retirement in 2022. Though he traveled extensively and visited many countries, there was never any place like home. Danny was a nearly lifelong Kansas City area resident where he built his home, raised his three children, Patty Graham, Pam (Adam) Kedish, and Joe West, as well as welcomed nine grandchildren. During his children's youth, he coached baseball, taught them how to drive, swam with them, attended endless youth sports games and loved playing baseball in the backyard.

In his later years, he found love with his longtime partner, Kim Hurst. He remained a devoted father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend-always ready to lend a helping hand. Though he tried to have a tough exterior, those that knew him best knew he had a big soft heart for his loved ones. There wasn't anything he wouldn't do for them and was talked into attending a Girl Scout camp with his granddaughter, driving three hours to support another granddaughter at her first job, and giving endless 4-wheeler rides to the kids and all their friends. Danny loved working in his yard (and equally loved complaining about it), tinkering in his garage, and tending his large garden. There was little he couldn't fix-except the one thing his family wished for most and that was the cancer that eventually took him from them. His mind stayed sharp until the end, but when his body gave out, he passed peacefully holding the hands of his loved ones.

His family finds comfort in knowing he is having the best fish fry in Heaven with those that preceded him in death including his parents, his brother Steve, brother-in-law Scott, nephew Jim, and Kim's daughter Jenna.

He is survived by his sister Teresa, nephew Brandon, Kim and her children Jade, Shane (Brooke), and Sydney, his children, Patty, Pam, and Joe, grandchildren, and his best friend and neighbor Jim, as well as many more family members and friends. His absence leaves a hole that cannot be filled; however, his legacy will live on through the many stories, memories, and laughter he shared with those he loved.

In true Danny fashion, he made sure everything was planned exactly the way he wanted. His family invites friends and loved ones to a simple graveside service at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Crucifixion Garden, on Tuesday, September 16, at 11:30 a.m. A celebration of his life and a luncheon will follow at the Arrington Place Event Center 13600 Arrington Rd., Grandview, Missouri 64030 where we will eat, drink, and share stories-just as he would have wanted.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Wonderland Camp in Rocky Mount, Mo. It is a non-profit camp supporting those with disabilities.

I had the privilege of working with Dan Man for years at O´Connor Company He was truly respected in his field. I was there when he first fell in love with Kim. He was like a little bashful kid flirting with her while sitting in my cubicle as a decoy. Those two were something else! I love you Kimmie!!

I worked with Dan (Dolittle)for years at O´Connor Company. Dan and I would kid each other all the time. He was an excellent teacher and technician. He knew his stuff when it came to heating and cooling products.
Dan you will be missed!!
Praying for all your family for comfort.
