Danita Colbert, 69, of Corinth, KY, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 9, 2025, following a decade-long journey with early-onset Alzheimer's disease.
Born on April 12, 1956, Danita was a woman of deep Christian faith who dedicated her life to her family and to nurturing others. Her passion for teaching and working with youth was a cornerstone of her life. Over the years, she taught Sunday School at Lystra Church of Christ and volunteered in the church nursery at Williamstown Christian Church.
Her commitment to education extended into her professional life as she served as a psychology instructor at the Grant County branch of Northern Kentucky University from the late 1990s until 2015.
Danita found her greatest joy in spending time with her family. She was an avid reader and enjoyed the quiet challenge of a good jigsaw puzzle. She loved taking long walks, especially near the family farm in Corinth, where she always took time to appreciate the beauty of God's creation, from flowers and trees to birds and butterflies.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Kerry Colbert; her daughters, Melissa (David) Satterfield and Jennifer (Stuart) Streck; her grandchildren, Scarlett (Billy) Kirk, Tiana, Jimmy, and Kristian; her great-granddaughters, Kaitlynn and Juniper; and her siblings, Connie, Gaylon Jr., and Amy.
Danita was welcomed into eternity by those who preceded her in death: her parents, Gaylon and Mary Lovelace, and her brothers, John Allen, Barry, and Patrick.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life service is being planned, and details will be shared by the family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests that donations be made in Danita's memory to the Alzheimer's Association or the Cure Alzheimer's Fund.
Care Cremation and Funeral Service is honored to be entrusted with final care.
