In Loving Memory of Ewell Howard
April 15, 1938–October 20, 2025
It is with deep sorrow and loving remembrance that we announce the passing of Ewell Howard, who departed this life on October 20, 2025, surrounded by family and loved ones.
Ewell was known for his hard work, dedication to his family and unwavering support for the Kentucky Wildcats. He loved to plant and watch his garden grow nearly as much as he loved watching his great grandchildren grow. He always had five dollars for the tiny hands that entered his home. You could find him at the kitchen table or tinkering in his garage any given day waiting for his kids to come update him on their latest adventure or ask for advice. He was a devoted husband to Linda for over 50 years. They shared many adventures together whether they were on a walk, renovating their home or picking vegetables from the garden. They raised many children of their own and two grandchildren that they thought of as their own. Ewell endured moments of great celebration and moments of heartbreak, but he always stood steadfast in his faith in Jesus Christ.
Ewell's memory will be forever cherished by those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife, Linda; his daughter, Audrey Honaker; his grandchildren, Dylan Dunaway (Leah), Breanna Eskridge (Stephen), Lauren Ivins (Eric); his great grandchildren, Max, Roxanne, Emerson, Stone, Nash, Hayes, and Colton; brothers, Hubert Howard, Hoss Howard, Neil Howard, Mark Howard; and sisters, Barbara and Joan as well as a host of extended family and dear friends.
Ewell was preceded in death by his mother, Lydia Howard and father, John Howard; his son, Michael Howard, his stepdaughter, Fran Dodgen; and siblings, Gary Howard, Ernie Howard, Johnny Howard, Roger Howard and Daisy Sample.
A celebration of Ewell's life will be held on Monday, October 27th at 6pm at Highbridge Union Church in Wilmore, KY.
