Danny Ray Coffin was born Keosauqua, Iowa, on October 22, 1953, to Raymond and Nona Pope Coffin. He was a graduate of the Van Buren High School class of 1972. Upon graduation, Danny joined Rockwell International, embarking on a diverse career that spanned over three decades until the closure of the company. His work ethic was unmatched, and his years at Rockwell were not just a testament to his commitment to his profession but also to the people he worked alongside. Following his time at Rockwell, Danny began working in the bakery department at HyVee and then drove a food delivery truck for various businesses in the Fairfield and Ottumwa area. He later obtained his CDL and became a school bus driver for the Cardinal Community School District. For more than 15 years, he safely transported countless students. He loved his job as a bus driver and the kids that he met along the way.
Danny's personal life was enriched with love and faith. His marriage to Patsy in 1980 marked the beginning of fatherhood with the arrival of his son, Justin. The bond between Danny and Justin was profound, sharing adventures to various sports stadiums and memorable life events. Danny and Patsy later went their separate ways and his path of spirituality initiated in the Assembly of God Church and flourished at the Faith Christian Outreach Center in Fairfield, where he met his wife, Pam. Their marriage in 2021 was a testament to their shared beliefs and dedication to each other, a bond that remained steadfast until Danny's last breath.
Beyond his devout faith, Danny had a passion for motorcycles and the cherished memories of his orange GTO reflected his love for classic automobiles. He took every chance he could to cheer for his St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed watching all sports. Later in life he loved a round of golf at the Riverview Club where he was a member for many years. He also loved bowling and was proud of his highest game score of 299. At home, his heart held a special place for animals, none more so than his adored dog "Tootsie". Danny will be deeply missed by his family and the many friends he made along the way.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, Jack Jacobs, Gary Coffin, Howard Coffin, and Linda Fitzgerald.
Left to honor his memory is his loving wife, Pam Coffin of Birmingham, IA; his son, Justin Coffin of Cantril, IA; two stepsons, Nick (Debra) Barnett of Eldon, IA and Casey (Heather) Barnett of Alabama; a step granddaughter, Hannah Barnett; two siblings, Francis (Joyce) Coffin of Birmingham, IA and Jim (Sharon) Coffin of Fairfield, IA, as well as many extended family and friends.

Danny and I were very close in age and would have many adventures during family visits. I remember the character change when he asked Jesus to become Lord of his life. What a testimony!

Dear Danny, You were such a good friend to me and the girls. They still laugh about you taking them for ice cream. This picture is special to us. You in the back round with long hair and Wendi wearing your hat. You will be truly missed. Ruth Ann Neff Gugel
