Danny Mac Gholson, 65, of Levelland passed from this life on August 17, 2024. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, August 23, 2024 at Krestridge Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 24,2024 in the Smyer Cemetery.
Danny was born March 5, 1959 in Lubbock to Lee Edward and Darla Kay Jordan Gholson. He was raised in Smyer, where he excelled in high school sports especially football and track. He still holds school records in the 100 meter and 200-meter dash. Danny received a football scholarship from Texas A&I University. He spent most of his working life in the floor covering business where he worked for and with his father, Lee and brother, Kevin. Danny also spent some time driving a long-haul rig from coast to coast and for Breedloves in Lubbock. For the last ten years, Danny resided in Lynwood Nursing Home where he happily consumed Coca-Cola on a daily basis with a large smile on his face.
He loved fireworks of any kind and always had a large box to take to 4th of July events. Danny was an avid fisherman who also enjoyed camping trips, gardening, taking care of his mother’s plants and when he was able, he tended to the roses at Lynwood Nursing Home.
He is preceded in death by his father, Lee Gholson.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his mother, Darla Gholson of Levelland; brothers, Randy Gholson of Levelland and Kevin Gholson of Smyer; daughter, Amber Kite of Lubbock along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
