Mr. Danny Ray Gilbert

Danny Ray Gilbert was born April 4, 1962, the second child of Archie Lee, Sr., and Pearlene Gilbert. He confessed hope in Christ and joined New Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, later Bridge Builders and finally Second Chance Ministries under the leadership of his brother, Reverend Marcus Gilbert. Danny always said, "He knew God and God knows him". He transitioned from his labor to reward on July 6, 2023.
He leaves to cherish: his wife of 26 years, Melinda Gilbert; his children, Darius Sledge, Danielle Sledge and Blake Holt; one grandson, Kejuan Shoulders; great-grandchildren, Kendell and Kenlee; in-laws, Jessie Williams and Irene Williams, whom he called "Ma Ring"; four brothers, Archie Gilbert, Jr., Billy Don (Georgia) Gilbert, Rickey and Marcus (Annette) Gilbert; sister, Georgia (David) Wallace; along with his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews; and a host of extended family and dear friends.
Funeral service will be 12:00 noon, Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at the Round Island Creek Mission Center (13829 Lucas Ferry Road Athens, AL 35611) with Pastor Marcus Gilbert officiating. Interment will be in the Thatch-Mann Cemetery. Mr. Gilbert will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.
Public viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 11, 2023, and 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at the Royal Funeral Home Mason Chapel.
