Danny Wayne Lewis, 73, of Evansville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at the Linda White Hospice House surrounded by the love of his family. Born on January 27, 1952, Danny was the beloved son of the late Myron and Margaret "Peggy" Lewis. He was a proud 1970 graduate of FJ Reitz High School and a lifelong resident of Evansville's west side, where his roots ran deep. Danny was blessed with a devoted marriage of 41 years to his loving wife and best friend, Teresa Lewis. Together they built a life centered on love, laughter, and family. He was the cherished father of Shane Lewis, with whom he shared a close bond filled with mutual respect, friendship, and countless hours of playing sports together. Their relationship was one of shared values, unspoken understanding, and enduring love. Danny's joy multiplied as he became "Pawpaw" to his treasured grandchildren, Addison "Pumpkinbutt" Lewis (fiancée, Roy Carter) and Landon "Little Britches" Lewis, and later "Great Pawpaw" to his sweet great granddaughter, Vivianna "Sweetie" Carter. After retiring, Danny devoted himself to his family becoming not only a steady presence but their deepest supporter and proudest fan. Whether in the bleachers at sporting events or sharing a sweet treat afterward, Danny's love for his grandchildren was constant and overflowing. Danny is survived by his wife Teresa Lewis; son, Shane Lewis; grandchildren and great granddaughter; siblings, Lora (Ray) Bingman, sister-in-law, Nancy Lewis, Myra Pickett, Ray Lewis, Mark Lewis, Vi (Jim) Fuller and Peggy Bray; along with many nieces and nephews who adored him. Danny was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Dwight, Larry, Charlie, Kent, Tony and Roger Lewis. A skilled carpenter, Danny worked for Don Bolin and L&J Enterprises for many years, taking pride in building beautiful, quality homes. At home, he was equally gifted, known as the family's chef, creating meals that brought everyone to the table and closer together. Though he was a quiet man, Danny's actions spoke louder than his words. His unwavering support, warm smile, and steady presence made him a true pillar in the lives of those he loved. He was the loudest cheerleader for his family, always encouraging them to chase their dreams, and always ready with a helping hand or a gentle word of wisdom. Danny's life was defined by hard work, devotion, and deep love for his family. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him. Funeral services for Danny will be held at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Terry Gamblin officiating. Burial will take place in Tupman Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 PM until service time on Tuesday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Condolences may be made online at www.pierrefuneralhome.com.
