Danny J. Liston, 72, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on February 4, 2025. Danny was born on October 20, 1952, in Louisville to Norma VanNatta Liston and John Joseph Liston Jr.

Danny lived a full life surrounded by his family and friends. A man of strong work ethic and determination, he was always the first to lend a hand, especially when something needed fixing. His resilience and hands-on approach defined not just his career, but also his personal life.

An avid lover of golf and fishing, Danny found solace and joy on the greens and by the water, often with a fishing pole in hand or enjoying a quiet day on the course. His passion for UK and Campbellsville University basketball was well known among his loved ones, and he could always be counted on for enthusiastic cheers and support for his beloved Wildcats and Tigers.

But above all, Danny’s greatest love was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, whose caring and warm nature brought comfort to those around him. His legacy will live on in the countless memories he created with those he loved. He will be deeply missed by all who have had the privilege of knowing him.

Danny is preceded in death by his parents, Norma VanNatta Liston and John Joseph Liston Jr.; and 2 brothers, Jimmy and Tommy Liston.

Left to cherish Danny’s memory, he is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Jan Liston; 1 daughter, Stephanie Liston; 1 grandson, Drew Liston (Amanda); 1 granddaughter, Isabeta Rountree; 2 great-granddaughters, Amaiyah Blakemore and Althea Liston; 2 brothers-in-law, Randy Vernon (Lindsay) and Steve Vernon (Cindy); many nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and close friends who will carry his memory in their hearts.

A funeral service for Mr. Danny J. Liston will be held at 1 PM on Monday, February 10, 2025, at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home West, 4400 Dixie Highway, Louisville, Kentucky. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 AM to 1 PM at the funeral home. Burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens West will follow the funeral service.
