Danny Lyons

Danny Lyons, 64, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Danny was born on September 18, 1961, to William Lyons and Cathey Bartrug. From a very young age, he showed an extraordinary artistic ability that would remain a defining part of his life. Danny was an exceptionally talented artist who worked in many mediums, from detailed pen and ink drawings to expressive oil paintings. His artwork reflected both his creativity and his patience, and he continued to create art well into his later years, often sharing his pieces with family and friends.
In addition to his love of art, Danny had a lifelong passion for automobiles. He especially loved cars and took great pride in his Dodge Dart, which he enjoyed working on and talking about whenever he had the chance. Music was another important part of Danny's life. He loved listening to music and playing guitar, skillfully playing both electric and acoustic guitars. Music was not just a hobby for Danny, but a way for him to connect with others and express himself.
Most importantly, Danny deeply loved his family. Time spent with those he cared about meant everything to him. He cherished being a father and found his greatest joy in being a grandfather. Danny was known for the love, attention, and warmth he shared with his grandchildren, and his role as "Grandpa" was one of his proudest titles.
Surviving Danny are his daughter, Taylor (Eric) Stage; stepdaughter, Ashley Beaver; grandchildren, Eowyn and Sofia Stage, Rickey Kinser, Jozaleen Kinser, Mike Newlon, Alyra Couch and Ayla Erow; brothers, Bobby Williams and Michael Bartrug; stepbrothers, Jimmy Bartrug and Gary Bartrug; and nieces and nephews, Jon Williams, Matt Williams, Lynzie Williams, Dustin Williams, Kelsay Williams, Austin Williams, and Steven Bartrug.
Danny was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dorothy and Thurman Stacy, and his beloved daughter, Elisha Lyons, whose memory he held close to his heart.
The family will receive friends during calling hours on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Ohio, where a funeral service will immediately follow. A graveside service will be held later that day at 12:30 p.m. at Bennington Chapel Cemetery in Hartford (Croton), Ohio.
