Danny Lynn McGoogan passed away June 16, 2025. Danny was born June 14, 1952, in El Dorado, Arkansas, at Warner Brown Hospital to Helen Louise Cameron McGoogan and Floyd Hilton "Boe" McGoogan. Danny had one brother, Roy Hilton McGoogan. His grandparents were William and Mary Cleo Cameron and John and Mary McGoogan. Danny was raised in the Faircrest Community and a former member of Harmony Baptist Church. Danny started his education at Southside Elementary, Rogers Junior High, and graduated from El Dorado High School with the class of 1970. Prior to graduation, Danny enlisted in the Arkansas Army National Guard. He reported for Basic and AIT Training at Fort Polk, Louisiana, on September 24, 1970. He was Honorably Discharged from the Arkansas Army National Guard in 1976 attaining the rank of Sergeant. After graduation, Danny worked for Stuart's Typewriter Corporation. His next job took him to OlinKraft at Lillie, Louisiana, after military training from 1971-1974. Danny soon went to work for Michigan Chemical, which eventually merged with Velsicol Chemical 1974---1981, starting as an operator. Danny was promoted to Shift Leader then to a management position of Shift Foreman. Velsicol Chemical was purchased by Great Lakes Chemical in 1981. He was transferred to the Great Lakes Central Plant Facility on Highway 15 South in September of 1981 as the BOC Production Supervisor. In later years, he was Operations Supervisor for Fine Chemicals, Packaging and Shipping, OCP, and the South Arkansas Environmental Department. He received many awards for his service. He retired from Great Lakes Chemical/Chemtura Corporation on June 14, 2013. Retirement was short lived as he returned to Chemtura Corporation as an Environmental Consultant contracting through Environmental Management Services. He officially retired July 03, 2014. He made many lasting friendships during his work career. He always thanked Charles Taunton for hiring him on April 02, 1974. Danny was a member of the American Legion since 2003. Danny and his wife, Barbara, owned D&B Cattle Company established March 23, 1991. Danny frequented many saloons in his life and always made friends wherever he went. Maggie's, the American Legion and the VFW in El Dorado, Arkansas, and the Cheeky Monkey in Branson, Missouri. The VFW in El Dorado was his favorite because that was where his friends who had become family were. He spent so much time there that they gave him a key to the place, and he opened Sundays for pool and televised football games. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, golf, pool, shuffleboard, and riding motorcycles. He was a certified scuba diver. He spent a lot of time in his waning years hiking the hills of Branson, Missouri. The girl in the brown suede jacket: In 1984, Danny met a person who would have a lasting impact on his life. A long and trusted friendship evolved. They laughed and cried about the struggles of life they had endured. They found comfort in each other knowing they would no longer struggle alone. Danny always said this friend saved his life. March 23, 1991, Danny married his best friend, Barbara Boneno. What a life it has been and continues to be. One adventure after another! I love you and I am waiting for you, Neno.
Survivors include his best friend and wife, Barbara; family members: Jenifer McIelland Noe, Adam McGoogan, Melanie, Shawn, Rhea, and Jacob Neugebauer, Tony, Brooke, Marie, and Ryan Cruanes, Pete and Mary Santa Marina. There will be no services. Danny was an organ donor. Hopefully I've still got some parts that will help people.
