Mr. Danny Keith Newman

Danny Keith Newman, 53, of Gillsburg, died June 7, 2013, at his home. Visitation is Sunday, 5 to 8 p.m. at Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb and continues Monday at Gillsburg Baptist Church from 10 a.m. until services there at 11 a.m., with Dr. Victor Walsh officiating. Burial will be in Old Gillsburg Cemetery. Mr. Newman was born June 16, 1959 in McComb, MS. He was the son of Jimmy Dale and Margie Knotts Newman. Danny was a Certified Welding Inspector and worked on projects in Louisiana, Nevada, Oregon, Illinois and most recently in Williston, North Dakota. His first job was working with his father and grandfather at Newman Tractor Co. in Gillsburg. Danny loved spending time outdoors, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed cooking for his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who loved him. Mr. Newman is survived by his parents, Jimmy Dale and Margie Knotts Newman; daughter, Dannette N. King and husband Lee; son, Travis Koby Newman; two grandsons, Alexander Lee and Corbin Lee King; granddaughter, Avelynn Paige Newman; sister, Sandy Newman Baas and husband, John; nieces, Lindsey Baas; Shelley Neely and husband, Bryce; nephew, Dylan Baas and a host of aunts, cousins and friends. Pallbearers are Dylan Baas, Ellison Bates, Milton Brumfield, Robin Fenn, Howard Herring, Gary Newman, Glen Marshall Reynolds and Jeffrey Wall. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Bean, Jr., Tyler Harvey and David Rayon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN.org).
