Danny Shelnut Obituary
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, O'Neal and Helen Shelnut; his beloved son, Josh Shelnut; and his cherished grandson, Noah Shelnut.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Heather Murphy Shelnut; his daughter, Erica Shelnut; and his sons, Phillip (Tiffany) Shelnut, Blake Shelnut, and Drew Shelnut. He also leaves behind three grandchildren. Danny is also survived by his sisters, Donna Lee and Renee Lacey; his brothers, David (Karen) Shelnut and Darrell (Tammy) Shelnut; along with several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Danny spent 30 years doing what he loved-driving entertainers for Hemphill Brothers. Throughout his career, he built lifelong friendships, many of them strengthened by his humor and kindness. His dedication and professionalism were recognized in 2017 when he received the CMA Award for Coach/Truck Driver of the Year.
Though driving was his first love, Danny cherished time spent camping, following NASCAR, and cheering on Alabama football. A passionate fan, he never missed a chance to shout "Roll Tide!" These joys, along with his laughter and caring nature, remained a constant throughout his retirement.
Danny O'Neal Shelnut will be remembered not only for his strong work ethic, but for the joy he brought into every room, his generous spirit, and the love he shared so freely with family and friends. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched and the countless memories that will be treasured forever.
Visitation will be on Saturday, January, 17th, 2026 from 3:00pm-5:00pm at McDonald and Son Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home at 5:00pm on Saturday, January 17th, 2026.
Flowers are welcome or you may make a donation in Danny's name to First Baptist Church Cumming.
