Danny Mack Smith

Danny Mack Smith of Melbourne, FL, formerly of Oregon City Oregon, passed away at 12:11am on April 23rd, 2025 at Indian River Center Memory Care after a long battle with cancer and Alzheimers Disease.

He was born April 20th,1944 in Redmond, Oregon, the youngest son of Samuel Bert Smith and Beulah May Smith. He was the youngest son of 13 children, with only his sister Donna and brother Sonny still surviving. He is also survived by his wife of 52 years, Wilma Jean Smith, Daughter Lisa Mae Green, six grandchildren, one grand daughter in law, and one soon to be great grandchild.

Danny was a long time employee of the US Postal Service serving proudly as a mail handler in Portland Oregon for 39 years. Upon his retirement in 2009, he remained a resident of Oregon City, Oregon with his wife Wilma Smith. They relocated to Florida in March of 2024 to spend his last days with his only child, and grandchildren in Malabar, FL.

Danny was short in stature but large in love and goodwill. He loved people without judgement and his big heart and jovial spirit brought joy to all who knew him. His smile lit up every room and his laugh was utterly contagious. He had a special love in his heart for "old people" and was devoted to his mother Beulah until she passed away.

Danny was a favorite Grandpa, son, brother, uncle and friend. For those lucky enough to be endowed by one of his special nicknames, they will certainly never forget him. His daughter was known to him as Leesy or Lisa Magisa and his special niece Tina, who he loved as a second daughter was lovingly known to him as Tinee Weenee. Although silly, these nicknames were cherished and it fills our hearts with sorrow to know we will never hear them again. Even long after Alzheimer's had taken so much of his mind, he still managed to play Uno with his grandchildren, and make them laugh with his unique and happy twist on normal every day matters of life. He never let the disease win, he fought valiantly, and his presence is truly and sorely missed.

Danny was a skilled dancer, animal lover, and the ultimate "Mr. Fix It". He believed there was nothing much he couldn't repair with "a little duct tape and WD 40". Elvis playing on the radio always inspired an on the spot concert and dance party and his love for Jesus was big, bold, and inspiring.

Danny will be missed by his family, friends and all those who had the honor to know him. There is no doubt he is resting in the arms of Jesus and there have been many happy reunions in Heaven. For those of us who loved him and still occupy this earthly home, we hold onto faith that we will see him again and that death is not the end.

There will be a small Celebration of Life for immediate family, date to be determined, and in lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider making a donation to The Alzheimer's Foundation to help the fight in curing this heartbreaking illness that takes our loved ones away much too soon.
