Danny M. "Dan" Thiesen ObituaryDanny "Dan" Michael Thiesen, 58, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025, at Avantara-Lake Norden in Lake Norden SD.
Born on January 2, 1967, in Doland, South Dakota, Dan was the son of Kenneth Sr. and Linda (Jansen) Thiesen. He graduated from Doland High School in 1986 and later moved to Watertown, where he lived until relocating to Avantara-Lake Norden in July of this year.
Throughout his life, Dan worked for various businesses, but the job he spoke about most fondly was delivering the Watertown Public Opinion newspaper. He took great joy in visiting with people and reminiscing about classic television shows.
Dan was an adventurer at heart. He went on many trips and was always dreaming up his next destination-most recently, planning a journey to Arkansas. He spent countless hours at the library, exploring books and researching his interests.
Dan will be remembered by those who knew and loved him as a kind, intelligent, and fun-loving soul. Once you met Dan, he never forgot your name or face-and he had a gift for making everyone feel like a lifelong friend.
He is survived by his mother, Linda Thiesen of Redfield, SD; brothers David Thiesen of Watertown, SD, and Jon (Sarah) Thiesen of Sioux Falls, SD; sister-in-law Lona Thiesen of Minot, ND; five nieces and nephews; and nine great-nieces and great-nephews.
Dan was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Thiesen Sr.; brother Kenneth Thiesen Jr.; and sister Julie Ann Thiesen.
A private family memorial and burial will be held at a future date.
