Dan Webber, age 81, passed away after a lengthy fight against skin cancer at Rose Lane Nursing Home. He was born to Lawrence & Mary Ellen (Snyder) Webber, who proceeded him in death, on March 22, 1944 in Massillon. He attended Perry school District. Dan entered the Army in 1963, serving in Germany. He always said, "Someone had to protect the Beer Gardens"! He was honorably discharged in 1966.
Dan is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joan "Penny" (Brown) Webber, a son, Doug (Stefanie) Webber, a Grandson, Caleb, and Granddaughters, Mia and Brooklyn, of Brewster. A sister in law Kathi Webber, of North Canton, Ohio, many nieces, nephews and cousins, and his Best friend, Marvin Miller.
Dan was preceded in death by his Baby Granddaughter, Gracie Raine Webber, sister Dottie Champoir, baby sister Donna, and brother David Webber, several Aunts, Uncles, and cousins. And his 4-legged best friend, Petty.
Dan was a Life Time Member of the American Legion Post 221 of Massillon, having served as Post Commander and Life Time Member of Sons of Legion Post 221, having served as Commander, Dan was also in charge of the Post Honor Guard for several years before his health declined. Which was the only thing keeping him from those Honors. He said it was his honor to pay last respects to those who went before him.
Dan retired as a body & frame tech after over 30 years at Progressive Chevrolet in Massillon.
Dan enjoyed gardening, at one time having over 30 different roses. But his passion was tinkering in the garage, sometimes just sitting in the garage with a friend having a beer. He loved working on friends' cars. He was quite a handyman.
Dan's wife, son, and Grandchildren were the Love and light of his life. He was so proud of them.
Per Dan's wishes his body has been entrusted to Heritage Cremation & Burial Society in Louisville.
A Celebration of Life will be held at, American Legion Post 221, 427 Lincoln Way East, Massillon, Ohio 44646 on Saturday, November 15th, 2025 from 12-2 pm. A small service will be at 12:30 pm.
Dan's Urn will be Committed at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, OH.
