Daphne Cordova, 56, a resident of Taos, passed away unexpectedly on September 15, 2025.
If you ever had the pleasure of meeting Daphne, you know what a fun, loving character she was. Her ability to make people laugh simply by being herself was unforgettable. Quirky yet confident, she left everyone with lasting memories. Daphne was incredibly talented—from master fisherwoman to skilled lumberjack, she could do it all. Fiercely independent, she held friends close and loved with her whole heart.
Generous beyond measure, she often gave more than she had to help those she loved. She was selfless, authentic, and hardworking. Forgiving and gracious, Daphne never held grudges, always protecting those she cared for and speaking her mind with fearless honesty. In a world where authenticity is rare, Daphne shone brightly.
She valued time and company over material things and made everyone feel welcome, even at the expense of her own pride. Content to cheer others on from the sidelines, Daphne embodied quiet strength and joy. Her faith was deeply personal—she reflected the love of Christ she believed in and lived without ego or jealousy. The world has lost someone extraordinary, and she will be missed beyond words.
Daphne was born and raised in Taos, New Mexico. A true tomboy, she was among the first girls to play Little League and was known as the “golden child,” sharing a close bond with her mother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Phil and Rosemary Cordova; grandparents Melquiades and Juanita Cordova, Felix and Eva Sierra; great-grandparents; and numerous aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her brother Dion Cordova; nephews Dion Gabriel Buffalow (Stephen) and Jedidiah Cordova; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Daphne’s legacy of laughter, generosity, and unwavering love will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the friends, neighbors, family who surrounded Daphne with love and support.
