Daphne Louise Murray

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Daphne Louise Murray, 74, of Chambersburg PA. Daphne passed away on October 8, 2024 due to complications from Covid.
Daphne was born on July 22, 1950 to Wallace and Miriam Mundell in Greensburg, PA. She graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Education and Family and Consumer Sciences. Daphne worked a variety of jobs while raising her two children, and ultimately found a job in her field, teaching Family and Consumer Sciences at the Greencastle Antrim Middle School.
Daphne was deeply involved in her church, Chambersburg Brethren in Christ, where she sang in the choir, volunteered making funeral meals, and attended Sunday School and Bible Study. In addition to her work at the church, Daphne was a firm believer in animal rights, protecting the environment, and supporting veterans. She contributed regularly to charities related to these causes.
It is difficult to express what a tremendous loss Daphne's passing is. Daphne had a beautiful and kind soul, and a bubbly, easy laugh that left everyone around feeling lighter. She had a gift for taking seemingly everyday things and making them extraordinary. Her eye for design was second to none, but came effortlessly to her. Daphne lived for the simple pleasures that are too often overlooked – delicate pink trees, the first robin of spring, the soft light of autumn, Queen Anne's Lace at the side of a road, the sound of wind through the leaves. Her greatest joy in life came from spending time with her friends, sisters, children, and granddaughter.
Daphne is survived by her four sisters, Linda, Janet, Barbara and Carolyn; her children, Matthew and Emily-Grace; and her granddaughter, Annabelle. All are devastated by this unthinkable and sudden loss.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Chambersburg Brethren in Christ Church, 260 S 4th St, Chambersburg, PA 17201, on November 2, 2024 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Rd W, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
