Dara A. Muta, 44, of Waymart, PA, passed away peacefully at home on the night of Monday, February 17, 2025.
Born on September 12, 1980, in Honesdale, Dara was the beloved daughter of Denise Matern of Newfoundland and Ron Muta of Waymart, who both survive her.
Dara was a graduate of Western Wayne High School. She dedicated much of her life to caring for others, working as a home health caregiver before her health declined. Her specialty was connecting with hospice patients, offering them comfort, compassion, and dignity in their final moments. She took great pride in caring for those in need, always offering a helping hand and a kind heart to those around her. She was the kind of person who loved unconditionally, with a beautiful soul and a heart that touched everyone she met.
Dara had a deep love for animals, especially dolphins and turtles. She was passionate about cooking and also enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles, finding joy in quiet moments of thought and reflection. She also loved gardening and spending time at the beach, finding peace and happiness in the beauty of nature.
One of her greatest joys was attending her son Anthony's fights, no matter how nervous they made her. Despite her worry, she was always there, cheering him on with pride. One of her most cherished memories was when the Ireland team came in-she really took a liking to them and found a new love for the Irish spirit, embracing their warmth, energy, and camaraderie. She especially enjoyed catering to the fighters when they came in, making sure they were well-fed and taken care of with the same warmth and generosity she shared with everyone in her life.
A special moment in her life was becoming an aunt on her birthday when her sister, Britany Matern, gave birth to Violet Stine, a bond she treasured deeply.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her son, Anthony Muta; her brother, Dallas Matern; her sister, Britany Matern; and her beloved niece, Violet Stine.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, February 25th at 8 PM at The Waymart Church, 596 Honesdale Rd, Waymart. Calling hours will be held at the church from 6-8 PM prior to the service.
