Kind, caring, positive, and selfless, are just a few ways to describe Darci Lewis. A few events that occurred in 1965 include the creation of the Batmobile, Dr. Seuss published 'Fox in Socks', Kellogg's introduced Apple Jacks, and on August 17, 1965, Dennis and Sharon (Peterson) Puckett welcomed the birth of Darci Jo, in Columbia City, Indiana.
Darci and her parents, along with brothers Dan and Dave lived at Tri-Lakes until the summer before third grade began. As a child, Darci enjoyed playing softball and she later included playing tennis as well.
Darci attended Columbia City Joint High School and graduated with the Class of 1983. She also took part in the Miss Fort Wayne Pageant that year.
During her working career Darci worked for W J Carey Construction, K&K Insurance, Whitley County Prosecutor, Warner Electric, and most recently was the Office Manager at Ruich Brothers Landscaping for over 20 years. She also waitressed at Tri-Lakes Tavern, where she met her future husband, Mike. She thought he was cute because he kind of looked like Kenny Chesney. On July 8, 2000, Darci married Michael Lewis in Churubusco.
Some of the greatest days in Darci's life were the birth of her children Ben and Emma and the day she married Mike. She also delighted sharing stories about family vacations to Jackson Hole, Wyoming with her parents and brothers and going to Greece as a young adult. Darci desired to return to Greece with Emma to see sometime.
Darci had a love of Christmas, making cupcakes and cakes for weddings, playing piano, Rack-O, card game golf, decorating with sunflowers, gladiolus, hydrangeas, and peonies, her favorite flowers, and watching her children perform in show choir.
She was a member of Churubusco United Methodist Church, member and officer of ABWA for several years, and was also great friend to many.
Darci will forever be remembered in the hearts of those who loved and knew her so well.
