Darius Tyrese Chappell

Darius Tyrese Chappell, 5, of West Haven, CT, on October 6, 2022 was called home to be with The Lord while he was sleeping peacefully next to his mother. Darius nicknames were "Handsome," "Lil D" and "Baby D." Darius left the world too soon and had his whole life ahead of him. Darius was born on February 20, 2017 in New Haven, CT to Shantavia Chappell and Darius Cooper.
He was a light in this world, and now we need to continue shining his light by carrying it within us in our own lives. Darius touched so many people and every adult that came in contact with him. Darius is and always will be his mother's baby boy, he was her first child and he will be her last. He was his mother's everything. God sent Darius on this earth to touch so many people's Iives.
Although Darius was only here for a short time, he helped over a dozen people with their own grieving process including his mother when she lost her grandmother. He was truly an angel who fulfilled a purpose according to God's will. His mother never knew a child could love another human being as much as he loved her until she gave birth to Darius. His love was genuine and pure.
He missed his great grandmother so much and told his mother how much he wanted to see her again. He talked to his mother about Heaven and people passing away often. Darius was such a intelligent, smart, funny and charismatic child. He lit up every room he walked in to. People used to always say Darius had an old soul and he had been here before. His last words before he took his eternal rest was "Mommy, I feel better, I wanna go to school."
Baby boy you are with God, Mema and all our other family members who passed on already. Darius is and was so loved. He lived a good life by taking vacations via plane and cruise ships. Darius did not want for anything during his short time on this earth.
Darius attended Tendercare Daycare in Hamden, CT for almost 2 years. Darius attended Kiddie Tech University in West Haven, CT for PreK-4. Darius recently started Kindergarten at Forest Elementary School in West Haven, CT.
Besides his parents, Darius leaves to cherish his memory, sister, Zilaya Wilson; brothers, Skylar Wilson and Semaj Cooper; godbrother, Carter Myers; uncles, Rameil Hargett, Ricky Hargett, Michael White, Michael Clark, Jr., Rashim Hargett, Rasheem Hargett, Adam Mettelus, Darnell Hargett, Malik Cooper, Quayshawne Walton, Marvin Walton, and Lamar Reid; aunts, Shantasia Chappell, Twana Hargett, Debra Chappell, Yolanda Reid, Tonica "Chanel" Herring, Shatoya Fluitt, Sequetta Reid, and Tanisha Cooper; grandmothers, Vicky Chappell and Nancy Cooper; grandfathers, Michael Clark, Sr., and Robert Reid, Jr.; godmother, Lorraine Zimmerman; godfather, Keith Spencer; best friend, uncle Jajuan "Bubble" Newton; and a host of other uncles, aunts, cousins, other relatives, classmates, best friends and friends.
Darius was predeceased by uncles, Darick "Marky D" Cooper and Robert Edwards; great-grandmother, Sarah Chappell; great-grandfathers, Shedward Vereen and Robert Reid, Sr.
