Darla Jo Yates, 64 years, of Kearney, passed away on Wednesday September 15, 2021 at North Kansas City Hospice House.

She was born on Saturday March 23, 1957 in Macomb Illinois. She is the daughter of William and Katherine Carey.

Darla worked as a CNA at the Prairie City nursing home, and enjoyed it very much. Her favorite activity was spending time with her dogs: Dolly, Dusty, Sassy, and Lady. She also enjoyed bowling, both the game and socializing.

She is survived by one brother, David Carey, son, Ryan (Krista) Marler, daughter, Gina Marler, three step daughters: Sara (Beth) Yates, Carol Bruner, Stephanie (Tracy) Hancock, one step son, John (Susie) Yates Jr., and two grandchildren: Makalah Marler and Ethan Marler.

Darla is preceded in death by her parents William and Katherine Carey and husband John Yates.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family. We go back to high school, she and I have tons of memories and one of my favorites was taking her a Charlie Brown Christmas tree when she lived in Colchester. You will be missed my sweet friend!!!
