Darleen M. Kopstein, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at her home.

A graveside service will be held at 1pm on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Forest Hill Mausoleum in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.

Darleen was born on August 27, 1938, in Reedsburg, Wis. to the late Oliver and Angelina (Laufenberg) Crane. She graduated from Adams Friendship High School. Darleen married the love of her life, Ronald Kopstein on April 18, 1960, in Winona, MN.

Darleen found great joy in the simple, meaningful moments of life. Darlene loved spending time fishing in Canada, where the quiet waters and peaceful surroundings brought her happiness and relaxation. At home, she took pride in tending to her flower gardens, creating beautiful spaces that reflected her nurturing spirit and appreciation for nature.

For ten years, Darlene shared her knowledge and passion for learning as an instructor in Information Systems at Mid-State Technical College. She valued education and was committed to helping her students grow and succeed, making a lasting impact on many who had the privilege of learning from her.

Above all else, Darlene cherished her family. She especially loved her grandsons, Dale and Ronald, who brought immense joy to her life. Time spent with them was among her greatest treasures.

Darlene is survived by her daughter, Susan Kopstein; grandchildren, Dale Soppe, Ronald (Lorlie) Soppe; great-grandchildren, Stephanie Soppe, Cuyler Soppe, Coltyn Soppe; son-in-law, Edward Freeberg; step great-grandchildren, Logan Grzywacz, Mason Grzywacz; brother, Brian Crane; sisters, Cynthia Clayton, Veda Vandervest and Dorothy Kremm.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronald Kopstein; daughters, Karol Freeberg, Rhonda (James) Erdman; sister, Arline (Gene) Ritchey; sisters-in-law, Dolores Witty, Linda Crane and brothers-in-law, Steve Kopstein, Max Clayton, Ray Vandervest and Tony Kremm.
