Darlene DeFoor

Mrs. Darlene DeFoor, age 63, of Covington passed away Friday, May 17, 2024. She was born October 27, 1960 in Greeneville, Tennessee to Buddy and Alma Brackins who have preceded her in death. Mrs. DeFoor grew up in Marshall, North Carolina and graduated from Madison County High School. She continued her education at the University of Georgia where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Journalism before completing her Master's Degree in Education at Clemson University. Mrs. DeFoor was an educator who worked at Rutledge Academy in Morgan County for more than five years. Her family was her entire world, and she loved them more than anything. She had a boundless appetite for literature and fiction of all kinds. When she was not immersed in the world of ideas and prose, she expressed her creativity and imagination using her talent for arts and crafts. She was a natural conversationalist and could turn the simplest anecdotes into tales that enthralled and entertained others. Mrs. DeFoor was a woman of strong faith and a longtime member of Starrsville Church. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers D.G. Brackins, and Robin Brackins.
Mrs. DeFoor is survived by her husband John Alan DeFoor; her son John Matthew DeFoor of Decatur; her daughter and son-in-law Julia DeFoor- Reynolds (T.J.) of Decatur; her sister-in-law Cathy Brackins; along with numerous other family members and many close friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Starrsville Church, 2786 Dixie Road, Covington, GA 30014.
