Darlene Kay Dorton, 68, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025. Darlene was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandma. She had a strong faith and loved the Lord. NOTHING COULD TAKE HER JOY! Darlene had a passion for gardening and grew the most beautiful flowers. She always had a listening ear and gave the best advice, whether you asked for it or not. Most importantly, Darlene cherished her family and loved to spend time making precious memories with her grandchildren. Darlene will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.
She was born on January 15, 1957 in Louisville, Kentucky to Bronville and Pauline (McIver) Cornwell. She is preceded in death by her father, Bronville Cornwell; mother, Pauline Cornwell; mother-in-law, Patricia A. Dorton; and brothers, Jerry Cornwell and Steve Cornwell.
Darlene is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Philip Dorton; sister, Beverly (Joe) McCubbins; brother, Bobby (Machelle) Cornwell; sisters-in-law, Lucille Cornwell and Marilyn Cornwell; daughter, Natalie (Aaron) Goatley; son, Gary (Alla) Dorton; grandchildren, Ara (Jordan) Brown, Corran Brown, Amaya Hunter, Donovan Dorton, Allexis Sprinkle, Jada Railey, Kenyon Railey, Braelynn Brown, Harper Rupczyk; as well as a host of extended family and friends to cherish her loving memory forever.
Visitation will be on Saturday, March 29, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway. A celebration of her life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel.
