She was raised on the East side of Detroit, in the same house her father was raised in. Darlene attended Carstens Elementary, Jackson Junior High and graduated from Finney High in 1967. She obtained her Real Estate degree in the early 1980's. Darlene worked in accounts payable and receivables for many years until retirement in 2007.
In 1968, Darlene married Charles Haworth and had two children, Lisa Marie Van Hulle (Chris), and Brian Alan Haworth (Jenn). Cherished grandmother of Austin, and Wynn. Dear sister of Diana Swor, Bill Kluge, Debbie Vanamberg, Larry Kluge, and the late Helen Schlussel. Also survived by many other loving extended family and friends.
She divorced in 1973 and then remarried Francis "Frank" X. Kotcher in 1978. Darlene and Frank actively volunteered for many years with the Boys & Girls Club of Troy, working on golf outings, haunted houses, Taste of Troy and many other activities. They also both served on the Emerald Lakes Village HO Board, where Darlene was the social chairperson for 11 years. Together they enjoyed traveling, taking cruises, seeing the National Parks, playing golf, and doing things together. Family was very important to both of them, and they loved to host Holidays at their home, staying in touch with high school friends and just having fun. Darlene enjoyed reading, cake decorating, sewing, arts & crafts, and putting together more wedding cakes than she cared to think about.
