Danila Casagrande

Danila Casagrande passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, December 7, 2025, just a few weeks before her 94th birthday.

Born on December 30, 1931 in Passariano, Italy to Antonio Zorzi and Maria Cordovado. She was proud to be 100% Italian and honored her heritage with authentic Italian cooking and baked delicacies.

Danila graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Monroe and married the love of her life, the late Sibel, on June 22, 1957. They raised their family in Troy and have been members of St. Anastasia Catholic church for over 40 years. She was also a proud member of the Venetian Club of Mutual Aid. Danila liked to stay busy and in addition to caring for her family and home she worked for Greyhound Bus, as a candy striper for Sinai Hospital, and sold Avon beauty products. Danila cherished her family above everything. She adored her grandchildren and spending time with them.

Beloved wife of the late Sibel for 57 years.

Loving mother of Ann Marie Sliney (Thomas), Michael (Debra), and Julie Welc (Mark).

Devoted grandmother of Tifany Lang (Keith), Mathew Arquette (Carly), Lia Sliney, Christopher Sliney (Courtney), Jeffrey Sliney (Mallory), Amanda Avila (Antonio), Matthew Welc (Monica), Sarah Schoen (Spencer), Nicholas Sliney, and Justin Welc. Proud great-grandmother of eight.

Dear sister of the late Rina Zorzi, the late Luigi Zorzi (Assunta), and the late Armando Zorzi (Concetta).

Also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Family will receive friends Thursday, December 11, from 3:00-8:00pm with Scripture at 7:00pm at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks Rd. (between Maple & Big Beaver), Troy.

Funeral Mass Friday, December 12, 10:00am at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 80 S. Lynn St. Waterford. Visitation at church begins at 9:30am.

Rite of Committal White Chapel Cemetery, Troy.
