Darlene Armstrong Moody, 82, of
Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at her residence.
Born Saturday, October 23, 1943, in
Dyersburg, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Roger Armstrong and the late Violet Emmons Armstrong.
Darlene worked for several years at the Women's Clinic of
Dyersburg, Tennessee, before retiring from First Citizens National Bank, where she served faithfully as a mortgage clerk. She took pride in her work and the relationships she built throughout her career.
A devoted member of the West Dyersburg Church of Christ, Darlene's faith guided her life and shaped the kindness she extended to those around her. She was easygoing in spirit and deeply loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who affectionately knew her as "Ween." That special name reflected the close bond she shared with them and the joy they brought into her life.
Darlene loved her jewelry, and her family fondly joked that she had inherited "the Mama Hair gene," a trait that always brought smiles and laughter. She enjoyed cooking and will be lovingly remembered for her Thanksgiving and Christmas meals, which brought family together year after year. Baking was one of her greatest pleasures, and her chocolate, pumpkin, and white pies were always family favorites.
An animal lover at heart, Darlene was known for feeding raccoons and even hand-raising a few over the years. She especially adored her cats-Bruce and Edith-but her beloved Spock held a special and place in her heart.
Graveside services for Mrs. Moody will be held at 12:30 PM on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at Fairview Cemetery in
Dyersburg, Tennessee. Officiating the service will be Bro. Carl Mills. Friends are asked to gather at the cemetery.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, George Alexander Moody, II of
Dyersburg, Tennessee; one daughter, Mary Marjorie Moody Markham of Topeka, Kansas; two sisters, Laquita Alford of Memphis, Tennessee and Rogenia "Jeanie" Anderson of
Dyersburg, Tennessee; three grandchildren Jarod Markham, Mary Allison Markham and Mackenzie Moody and two great grandchildren, Marilyn and Bryce.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Alexander Moody; brother, Roger Dale Armstrong and sister, Josephine George.
Honoring Mrs. Moody as pallbearers will be Jarod Markham and Bryce Campbell.
