Darlene R. Rosetta, 90, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Peterson Assisted Living in Osage City.
Darlene Rae Sahlberg was born on January 2, 1936, in Peterton, Kansas, the daughter of Otto Raymond and Marguerite Helen (Sponheimer) Sahlberg. She graduated from Osage City High School in 1953.
She was joined in marriage to Humbert Emil Rosetta on July 17, 1954. To this union were born three children, Daresa, James and Ray.
Darlene enjoyed playing golf, bowling, loved the outdoors and feeding her critters. Darlene and Humbert had University of Kansas season tickets for many years for both basketball and football. Darlene and Humbert did extensive traveling with friends and family. They visited all 50 states and several other countries. Darlene and Humbert were Mr. and Mrs. Osage City in 2011. This was a tremendous honor for them.
She had worked at Hallmark Cards in Osage City for many years.
Darlene was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, P.E.O. Chapter, Sorosis Club, Club 15 and delivered Meals on Wheels for Osage City Senior Center.
Darlene will be forever remembered by her daughter, Daresa (Will) Prescott of Osage City; a son, Ray Rosetta of Platte City, Missouri; two grandchildren, Sean’ta Prescott and Alfonzo (Jannie) Prescott; two great granddaughters, Ever and Bristol; a niece, Josi Garland and many other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; a son, James Richard Rosetta (died at birth) and a brother, Joe Sahlberg.
Celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 13, 2026, at the First United Methodist Church in Osage City. Memorial contributions may be made to the Osage City First United Methodist Church and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. Sixth, Osage City, KS 66523. Condolences may be expressed Vanarsdalefs.com.
