Darlene Sierra, 70, of Niles, passed away peacefully at her home on May 12, 2025, with the love of her family by her side.

Darlene was born on August 13, 1954, a daughter to the late George and Gladys (Snyder) Squibbs.

She was a 1972 graduate of Niles High School.

Darlene proudly dedicated 25 years of her life as a bus driver for Liberty Schools. Her commitment extended far beyond her career; she was known for her compassion and dedication to the children she transported daily, leaving a lasting impact on their lives. Darlene also was involved in Liberty's soccer team, wrestling team and more.

In addition to her dedication to the school, Darlene pursued her passion for creativity by owning her business, Sweet n Charming, where she handcrafted beautiful jewelry and candles.

Darlene had a wide range of interests and hobbies that brought her joy. She delighted in gardening, baking, and crafting, often showcasing her creations. Her annual tradition of going to Kraynaks every year during Christmas brought her immense joy. Additionally, she loved attending swap meets, where she could find treasures and share her love for unique items. A cherished tradition was her corn roast each birthday, a time for family and friends to gather and celebrate. Darlene was immensely proud of her grandchildren and made it a point to attend all of their sporting events. Moreover, she took an active role in supporting the Liberty High School band, reflecting her love for community and music.

Darlene leaves behind her beloved husband, David Sierra Sr., whom she married on April 24, 1976; her sons, David Sierra Jr. and Stephen Sierra (Heather Keller); and her daughter, Mindy Sierra. She also held a special bond with Wayne Hickman, who was like a son to her. Darlene is also survived by her brother, Edward Squibbs, and her cherished grandchildren: Brianna (Miguel) Gonzalez, Selena (Jimmy) Galan, Quintin, Conner, Tyler, Chase, Jared, Cody, Jaxson, Kaleb, and Jacob. In addition, she leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Noah, Mateo, and Luca, as well as her loyal dog, Angel.

Darlene is also preceded by her beloved dog, Koko, who was a dear companion during her lifetime.

In accordance with Darlene's wishes, there will be no services after her cremation; however, a wrestling tournament will be held this year in her honor, as well as a girl's wrestling tournament for next year.
